Marketing and Audience Development Planning – Strategic Business Planning
Merryn has developed a consultative, flexible and participatory process to support the writing, reviewing and fine-tuning of Marketing and Audience Development Plans and Business (Strategic) Plans for arts and nonprofit organisations. This process and the support materials she has developed have grown out of her work with many diverse organisations including regional and suburban performing arts centres, visual, literary, indigenous and performing arts organisations, service organisations, other nonprofit organisations, and individual artists.
Designed to maximise buy-in from the whole team responsible for enacting the plan, Merryn’s method enables organisations to use the planning process as a way to introduce or embed new insights, new strategies and new ways of working.
Clients are provided with a planning workbook, including suggested structures for the plan, tips on essential information and research to ensure the plan addresses specific organisational needs, and a series of helpful prompts and questions to guide the client-completed sections of the plan.
Merryn’s role in the process is flexible and tailored to client needs but can include facilitating marketing, audience development and/or business planning workshops (with staff and board members), working with staff on background research, writing complete sections of the finished plan, editing client-completed sections and proof reading and compiling the finished plan.
